Former Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa Joins MedMen Board

Antonio Villaraigosa, the previous mayor of Los Angeles, has been named to the board of administrators of hashish retailer and producer MedMen. The firm, which is predicated in Los Angeles, operates 19 licensed hashish amenities in three states.

Commitment To Social Equity

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Villaraigosa stated that he plans to be half of the hashish business social fairness packages being created in Los Angeles. Such packages search to offer alternatives to individuals of shade and to members of communities disproportionately affected by the War on Drugs.

“I have a relationship with those communities that’s as strong as anyone’s,” Villaraigosa stated. “I understand the goal [of social equity]; I’ve supported it from the beginning. But we’ve got to make it work. Right now, a lot of what we have is doodles on paper.”

Bierman stated that MedMen helps social fairness packages within the hashish business. But he needs to ensure that they don’t turn out to be an excessive amount of of a burden for companies and believes that the previous mayor may help the corporate obtain that aim.

Villaraigosa, who’s now 65, stated that he used to smoke hashish when he was younger.

“I grew up in the 1960s; everybody in my neighborhood did,” he stated.
